Mr. Shannon Wandmaker brings in-depth aviation security, international relations and diplomatic experience backed by years of regulatory and operational aviation knowledge.
He is the former head of cargo security for IATA, former Chair of the Global Air Cargo Advisory Group (GACAG) Security Task Force, and former First Secretary (Transport) for the Australian Embassy, Abu Dhabi. Prior to working for IATA he led the aviation security audit and capacity development programme across 44 pan-European countries for ICAO/ECAC in Paris.
Mr Wandmaker spent 12 years in significant Australian Government aviation policy, operational and diplomatic positions, and led aviation security capacity development activities in the South Pacific and South East Asia.
Mr Wandmaker has extensive experience in:
· Undertaking high level international liaison, bilateral and multilateral engagement, and developing relationships with Ministerial level government officials, private sector CEOs and VPs, aviation managers and law enforcement agencies;
· Developing and implementing strategic plans, complex policy, briefing material, strategic papers, technical documentation, regulations, standard operating procedures and guidance material;
· Managing operationally focused multi-cultural teams across international borders;
· Undertaking complex formal international negotiations and involvement in bilateral and multilateral international air service negotiations;
· International markets including over fifty countries in the South Pacific, Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Americas;
· Conducting aviation compliance activities, undertaking regulatory and operational capacity building activities, interpreting regulation and responding to regulatory notices;
· Developing risk and vulnerability assessment plans and programmes in international environments, and drafting and reviewing assessment reports;
· Audit and regulatory compliance, including developing assessment programmes, drafting and reviewing reports, and conducting inspection activities on large and complex operations; and
· Delivering training in formal learning settings as well as providing informal mentoring to staff.
