Since September 2016, I have completed missions for ICAO in India and for Saudi Air Navigation Services, acting a Safety Instructor and Operations Safety Advisor. I had the honor to develop and present a SMS course, on behalf of ICAO, to operational and management personnel at the Indian Aviation Academy in New Delhi.
Prior to living those rewarding experiences, I spent two years in Iraq within Baghdad ATC Centre as the Safety and Investigation Officer for Serco Middle-East. A huge part of the airspace being restricted to military operations to support the war against ISIS, my role was enlarged to collaborate closely with the US and Iraqi Military Authorities to maintain the level of safety of ATC operations as high as possible.
Before that, I worked in different positions within the Aeronautical domain:
In 1995, I started my career as a Weapon System Navigator Officer for the French Air Force and further on I was certified as an ATCO in 1997. In 2002, I crossed the border to join the Swiss Air Navigation Services within Skyguide, first as an ATCO, then as an ATM procedures expert. When the Board of Directors decided to set up an independent Safety Department, I seized the chance to be involved in the creation of this new Department. As a Systems Safety Expert (trained within Eurocontrol Institute in Luxembourg) I actively participated in the development of safety processes such as Risk Assessment and Change Management.
In 2009, I joined Geneva International Airport as the Deputy Safety Manager where I widened my field of responsibilities by developing and implementing a full Safety Management System (SMS) including all elements of its four pillars. My participation in the Swiss Certification of Aerodrome (COFA) group allowed me to share and broaden my experience with Safety Officers and Heads of international and regional aerodromes. Indeed Geneva and Zurich were and are still used as examples by other airports to implement an efficient SMS.
In terms of training and education, I have completed in 2013 the global ACI/ICAO Airport Management Professional Accreditation Programme (AMPAP) and was graduated International Airport Professional (IAP) in November 2013. In Parallel, I also took the Aviation Security Professional Management Course given by ICAO and was certified AVSEC Professional Manager in November 2013.
I received my Certificate in Advanced English (CAE – Cambridge University) in 2006 and Certificate in Risk Management delivered by the Institute of Risk Management (IRM – London) in 2009.
I have also completed in 2017 the ICAO Universal Safety Oversight Audit Program (USOAP).
