Philip Church is an experienced technical consultant and avionics engineer with more than 16 years’ experience consulting within Air Traffic Management (ATM) in the aviation industry. He has a broad depth of experience within ATM CNS that includes project management, safety and risk assessment, technical specifications, cost benefits analysis, market forecast, training, standardisation and industry support. He has led numerous consultations on behalf of Eurocontrol, the European GNSS Agency (GSA) and has been called as an expert by the European Commission (EC) and worked with numerous airports, ANSPs, National Safety Agencies (NSAs) and aircraft operators to achieve operational improvements across all areas of Communications, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) and Aeronautical Information Management (AIM). He has a wide appreciation of the demands and expectations of airspace users and has been an active supporter of technology to realise operational and safety benefits.
Philip has actively supported standardisation activities in the past covering areas such as VDL Mode 4, TIS-B, FIS-B, A-SMGCS, ADS-B and PBN. More recently, he has focused on pushing EGNOS capabilities and has managed the safety and risks assessments for the implementation of EGNOS enabled procedures to 11 European States.
He has presented internationally and written for several magazines on topics including the integration of Unmanned Aircraft Systems in civil airspace
